Web Design Case Study

National Advisory

The Brief

Chief Operating Officer Andrew Jackson approached me to design and develop a secondary, specialised consultancy web design for the expert team at National Advisory. Unlike a typical corporate site engineered for client acquisition, Mr. Jackson explicitly framed this project as a high-level validation resource. The core requirement was a specialized, single-page brochure-style website designed purely to showcase the team’s deep sectorial expertise and their proven record in delivering complex strategic outcomes.

This advisory work spans a vast array of influential clients, including large industry groups, high-profile not-for-profit organisations, and a significant portfolio of work engaging stakeholders across all levels of government—from municipal planning and state agencies to federal policy implementation. The key purpose was to establish immediate digital credibility for highly discerning audiences. A critical defining element of the scope was the explicit absence of a requirement for Search Engine Optimization (SEO). The company operates entirely on a referral and established relationship basis, meaning the website serves as a final, comprehensive credibility check for already-engaged clientele, not a tool for attracting new leads. The final product needed to communicate trust, comprehensive capability, and authority in the most concise format possible.

The Solution

The execution centred on creating a web design that perfectly mirrored National Advisory’s corporate gravitas. The final design was a single-page brochure website characterized by a deliberately smart, yet conservative style. This aesthetic choice utilized the client’s existing corporate colour scheme and established branding guidelines, employing clean lines, high contrast typography, and a professional, grid-based layout to imbue the site with professionalism and trustworthiness.

A critical functional requirement was comprehensive self-management capability, particularly concerning personnel changes, team biographies, and credentials. To meet this need for seamless internal control, I integrated my proprietary lightweight Content Management System (CMS). This custom platform was designed specifically for ease of use by non-technical staff, enabling designated administrators to quickly update, add, or remove team members and streamline personnel management immediately without requiring external developer intervention.

To efficiently manage the substantial amount of expertise-driven content—such as detailed biographies and complex project summaries—within the structural constraints of a single-page layout, the site features strategically placed, intuitive accordion-style sections. This design choice prevents user fatigue by minimizing initial vertical scrolling on the landing page. Content expands smoothly and responsively when clicked or tapped, significantly optimizing the consumption of dense information. This interface strategy works remarkably well, ensuring an intuitive and fast user experience across both desktop environments and various mobile devices, guaranteeing that National Advisory’s high-value information is accessible anytime, anywhere.
